Brow bone reduction
The eyebrow bone protrusion increases the facial violence and this reduces the subtlety of the face and causes the face of some women to show a masculine appearance. One of the characteristics of eyebrow protrusion is the puffy upper eyelid; however, the puffy upper eyelid may occur due to other reasons that can be detected by a specialist. Moreover, this surgery can be performed in combination with the brow lift or forehead reduction surgery.
Do you need Brow bone reduction?
If your upper eyelid is very puffy, or you are among those men whose faces seem upset and angry, or you have a violent appearance and feel a protrusion or bump above your eyebrow, it is very likely that the Brow bone reduction and forehead protrusion correction can help you. If you fall under the category of the women with big faces and very puffy upper eyelids, and the eyelid surgery you underwent failed to correct the puffiness to the desirable extent, you may have the eyebrow bone protrusion that has not been corrected yet.
Therefore, it is not a wrong suggestion if our physician colleagues suggest you to only undergo the upper eyelid surgery, so perform it. However, if the result is not what you wanted, you should think about the issue that the hard tissue, i.e. the bone above the eyelid, may have grown and it is necessary to correct it.
Additionally, by touching the eyebrow and forehead regions you can realize the protrusion of that part. However, you had better consult with a physician specialist in this area with, of course, sufficient artistic vision to see whether you need to undergo surgery or not. Usually a protrusion is observed in the under eyebrow areas or sometimes above and next to the eyebrow in people with excessive growth of the eyebrow bone. Each of these states may be seen alone or in combination with the other two states. In examination, a bone protrusion above the upper eyelid is observed in most clients attending our clinic. There is a sign in the area of the upper eyelid puffiness and when we touch it, we observe a protruded bone besides a large soft tissue next to the eyebrow.
You may doubt what you find when searching and reading different articles retrieved from various websites because some physicians are opposed to bone shaving and some talk about bone shaving. You become confused about what the right choice is. The eyebrows bone shaving dates back to about 30-40 years ago (1940-1990). One of the physicians, who compared and examined the male and female skulls, found differences between the two genders and observed that the protrusion of the bone above the eyebrow and the frontal bone (in front of the frontal sinus) is further in men, and these protrusions may also be seen in some women. This physician suggested some solutions for treatment. Facial feminization surgery, Brow bone reduction, and many other surgeries have their roots in these solutions.
What is the surgical procedure like if we want to perform brow bone shaving surgery?
The bone protrusion can begin from the inner parts of the eyebrow and reach the side parts. To shave the side parts, we make an incision inside the eyelid groove. Using this incision, we then shave the brow side parts. However, if the internal parts are protruded, we don’t have good access to these parts through the incision we made due to the nerves that rise from the upper part of the eyebrow.
In these cases, we have to use other methods. For example, we can get access to the protruded parts and shave them through open and endoscopic forehead lift surgery.
