Many of the post surgical dissatisfactions with this method are due to the complications of the resulting scars (as seen in the image above).<br \/>The high rate of complications and the ineffectiveness of this method have forced surgeons to seek more durable rhytidectomy methods. In this pursuit, they realized that instead of applying tension to the facial skin, tension should be applied to the deeper, stronger tissues.
